I built my own Prusa i3 3D printer in fall 2016. It has made prototyping so much easier :)!
As a part of my advanced fabrication class, I worked on designing board game pieces that were more accessible to people with physical disabilities. We also looked at how they could be made more inclusive. Some of the ideas explored included making the pieces easier to hold and pick up, harder to topple and more inclusive of people with disabilities.
I designed a hollow spade model to house light, moisture, and humidity sensors and a measuring tape on SolidWorks for a class project. This was 3D printed and the sensors were placed inside to build the prototype.
I really enjoy working with wood! I've worked on the saws, planer, jointer, router, drill press and the lathe to create salad hands, a book shelf and a candle holder for myself. I also learnt vacuum forming to make a base for my candle holder.
As a personal project, I designed and built a portable laptop table with an in-built removable cooling pad using various woodworking techniques and laser cutting.
I really enjoy laser cutting! I have worked with various materials - wood, paper, acrylic - as a part of class projects, and personal projects.
Origami has been a hobby of mine since I was 12. I've found that it's also a great stressbuster! Figuring out the assembly of modular origami is my favorite part.
